Elise Bosse is dead?

I noticed when I google ‘Elise Bosse’ (yes, that’s me) it comes up with

1) All the bugs I’ve submitted to the Abiword mailing list
and
2) a lot of dead German people.

Depressing! How is it that I’m the only kirilisa but Elise Bosse has nothing to do with me?

Hmmph.

News, news

Yes, I suck.

It’s been a long month.

It’s 1:40 AM and I’m not in bed and I don’t feel like going to bed! Tomorrow’s Friday, thank goodness. I’ve been so… restless… of late. It reminds me so much of the year after I broke up with Muta. I was awake all the time, sniffing the air, pacing around. That was the year of the Love Affair with My Bicycle.

Anyway, what news? I’ve been at work too much, and in my spare time, coding too much. News? Well,

  1. Had a minor car accident a couple weeks ago – drove too fast, hydroplaned and jumped a concrete barrier with my wheels turned :-( $80 later, Clyde is ok, sort of.
  2. My mother and little sister are coming to visit in less than a week! And I am taking off a week of work to hang out with them, mwahah!
  3. Zaubi’s sister is getting married in August, and I am a bridesmaid! She sent me the bridesmaid gown, a beautiful green and platinum halter top gown (see here)
  4. Have basically finished the website for church including my lovely OOP PHP calendar which someday I intend to turn into a customizable open source item
  5. Have an orchestra concert this Sunday – Sibelius 2 and Elgar’s Enigma Variations. We haven’t had nearly enough rehearsal time so parts of it may be a bit laughable
  6. Brewed more beer. it is bubbling in the basement as we speak.
  7. Zaubi wants to get another dog. There is a very cute one someone at his work is giving away, a Staffy. I think it would eat Elma.

Other than that, I feel really out of the loop. I barely get a chance to talk to friends anymore or get all these domestic chores done – laundry, food, cleaning, hanging out with the pets, etc. etc. let alone all the other coding tasks and instrument practicing! My sax playing is really going down the tubes. I wish I could get a teacher, or better yet, a group.

I think I am becoming Australian. I catch myself calling Clyde ‘Clydeo’ all the time.

Pictures, pictures

I think it is time for some pictures.

I found the above Zürich billboard absolutely hilarious.

I’ve been shameful, downright shameful about updating LJ. Yeah. Somehow, after spending a 8.5 hours at work and 1.5-2 hours commuting I just… don’t… feel… like… sitting at a computer anymore…

But I will be better in the future. I promise.

Anyway, I have decided to get the jump on cool and start using an actual *service* to deal with my photo uploads/management instead of home-grown stuff since I am just too sick of maintaining the home-grown stuff and anyway it never looks as good.

Thus, I have spent the weekend generating albums on Picasa’s web albums, and I am really pleased with the result. I haven’t gotten around to the pictures from pre-age-24 yeat as a lot of them will have to be dug up and re-scanned, but all of my trips etc. since about 2002 should be there, including this most recent one, which I have split into Italy, Germany/Switzerland, and Pompei/Ostia/ViaAppia!

Because you all know me, ancient ruins deserve a photo album at least as big as everything else.

So, without any more ado, go crazy!

Up way too late

So, I’m home!

Went to work today, bizarrely. Everything seemed fine until the afternoon when the world started moving s…l…o…w… and I nerly fell asleep at my desk.

The thought of going through all the pictures is frankly exhausting. I always do this. I go somewhere really cool, take a million pictures, and then never bother taking them all off the camera, let alone posting them somewhere where the world can see.

Too much trouble!

This evening Zaubi and I sat around for about an hour generating and installing Ubuntu ATI drivers so I could play Jardinains 2 on Linux. Clearly my exotic vacation hasn’t altered my innate geekiness.

But there is just something so… amusing… about gnomes…
