This morning there wasn’t time to eat breakfast at home, given that yesterday Fitz ate some charcoal from our hibachi that we had foolishly left in the kitchen and thus in the we hours exploded in a 9 foot square wave of shit.
So I went to Starbucks on my way to work. I like Starbucks. Shoot me.
I got some vanilla Dannon Light & Fit yogurt from them. I never had it before, and I find that it is one of the most vile substances to lie upon my tongue. How can it possibly taste so BAD???
Did you know there is a National Yogurt Association whose job it is to decide how much bacteria people should put in their yogurt?

I love my sax! I’ve practiced it twice so far for about an hour until my lips collapse.
Now I can play Strangers in the Night. A little wobbly, but getting there. I wish it weren’t so hard to play the low notes properly without making them sound an octave up for some weird reason.
The pianist from my chamber music group told me I should play the Mexican hat Dance. What is that?

Today I got a saxophone. Rented it from Rayburn music for three months.
I’m so excited! I never played saxophone before but I have all these grand images of myself standing in the twilight playing haunting sax solos that hang smokily in the air…
Anyway, I figured out how to play Do a Deer today. Yes, I stun with my breathtaking abilities

Well… back at work now and I’m an old married woman. I’m squatting in a new office for three weeks while renovations happen downstairs — it’s the most remote possible office there is, but it’s much nicer than my old one. I’m looking out the window at the cold gray october sky and feeling oddly homesick; homesick and incompetent. I don’t want to be at work and i don’t really have a good reason. this is one of the most relaxed jobs I’ve been at and the people are definitely the best. I am very fond of my co-worker Andrew, and since mrtee works here too we get to have lunch and stuff all the time. And yet — well, I guess I’ve never yet had a job in which i truly feel like I am a useful and competent person. Part of this may be my own tendency to put myself down, but the other part of that is that I have simply never stayed in one particular industry long enough to really become a master at anything. If you look at my resume, there aren’t two jobs on there that are even remotely similar. I am the epitome of a ‘Jack of all trades, Master of none’, and usually this pleases me, but in my work life I always feel lacking…
Hawaii was lovely. We spent three weeks there: one week on Maui, one week on the big island, 4 days on Kauai and 3 on Oahu. I’d have to say my favorite was kauai for is lush greenery and the wild na pail cliffs on the Northwest side. We had mad adventures and a couple mishaps which are described in brief below…
